Recron® LP
If you can dream it, you can do it. These are the words that have always encouraged Recron® to create newer, better products. We proudly present a unique invention - Recron® LP.

Garment manufacturers and the textile industry have been faced with the very serious problem of fabrics-pilling for a long time now. In many applications like high end worsted suitings, upholstery fabrics and socks, the material loses its smooth exterior and quality due to this pilling. Reliance Polyester has launched Recron® LP to address this very issue. With its varied features and benefits, Recron® LP is an excellent and cost-effective solution the industry was waiting for.

A revolutionary innovation, Recron® LP is a low-pill tow and fibre which lends unique low-pill properties to fabrics, even when blended with wool, viscose, cotton and other fibres. These unique properties ensure that the pills that are formed due to repetitive use and abrasion of the fabric, fall off instead of sticking to the fabric surface. This in turn ensures that the fabrics last long and with the same consistent quality.

The Flex Rub test

While many in the category claim to be the best, Recron® is the only brand that is willing to prove itself. In the Flex Rub test, a unique test that measures the tendency of a woven or knitted fabric to pill, Recron® LP emerged as a clear winner.

The Flex Rub is a specially developed test in which the tow or staple fibre sample is repeatedly rubbed in a 'to and fro' motion over a wire or thin pin under a given tension and at 0 a defined angle of 900. This way the tow/fibre is subjected to maximum bending and abrasion. The number of cycles up to which the tow/fibre taken to break is measured. The lower the number of cycles to break, the lower is the tendency to pilling.

Recron® LP gives excellent low pill rating in woven fabrics as 100% Recron® LP or in blends with wool, cotton, viscose and other fibres. Pill ratings of 100% Recron® LP and 65/35% LP/Cotton fibre blended woven fabrics of similar count and construction, and dyed (without singeing) were tested as per ASTM D4970/ISO 12945 (Martindale) standard. Results were compared with regular polyester. Recron® LP fabrics show significantly lower pill rating at different rubbing cycles. However, rating values may slightly change with different types of fabrics and processing conditions.

Due Care for Recron® LP
  • No change or modification in fabric dyeing or printing recipe and process sequence is required for Recron® LP or its blends with Wool, Viscose Cotton or other fibres.
  • Mills can reduce intensity of singeing, yet achieve good pill rating.
  • Dyeability studies on LP fibre and tow have shown higher colour yield over regular Recron® fibre & tow.
  • Micro silicon is commonly used in finishing recipe to achieve fabric softness and feel, dose of which should be reduced in Recron® LP fabrics.
Recron® LP tow and fibre surpass non-LP tow and fibres that are preferred by worsted and cotton system spinners. Dyers and processors can also be benefitted by getting higher dyeability, reducing intensity of singeing and overall reduction in processing cost, at the same time produce cleaner and softer fabric.
