Recron® FR
Recron® FR is a special group of flame retardant fibres and yarns developed to combine comfort and permanent safety without compromising on design. This advanced Recron® FR product is produced with modified polyester that contains a flame retardant component that is attached to the molecular structure. Hence the fabrics produced with Recron® FR are flame retardant for life. This product has found multiple uses in hospitality, transport and home textiles industries. End products, made out of Recron® FR fibres and yarns, are light fast, easy to care and durable over long periods.

How Recron® FR works

Unlike fabrics that receive a surface treatment at a later stage, Recron® FR offers long-term security. This small but decisive difference results from the chemical structure of the polyester fibre in the shape of a comonomer or a phosphor-organic compound where flame retardant properties are firmly anchored in the fibre, protecting it from external agents.

In comparative terms, only very slight amounts of toxic fumes develop in the event of a flame. This is particularly important since, in a flame, the danger of suffocation from smoke fumes is greater than the risk of injury from flames. Unlike fibres with additional flame protection finish that can lose their protective layers as a result of wear, age or frequent washing, flame retardant Recron® FR is built with these properties inherent. Alongside its benefit of being environmentally friendly, Recron® FR requires no additional flame protection treatment like normal combustible materials.

In the Recron® FR, even under high temperature and pressure, the flame retardant components will not break off or separate out. Therefore, in addition to maintaining good spinning quality for the fabric, washing resistance is also maintained.
